CHAMPIONSGATE, Fla. - Christina Koerper (Huntingdon Valley,
Pa./Mount St. Joseph Academy) placed 20th after the second round to
lead the Mount St. Mary's women's golf team to an seventh-place
standing at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's Golf
Championships on Saturday.
Koerper, who came into the second round in 18th place with an
85, carded an 86 on Saturday to move into 20th place with a
two-round score of 171, 21 strokes behind the current leaders. The
171 is the fifth-best two-round score for a Mount player at the
championships in program history.
Autumn Serruta (Avon, Conn./Avon) (25th place, 173), Megan
Corbett (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) (37th place, 180), Sarah Roe
(Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) (38th place, 182) and
Christina Hall (Wall, N.J./Wall) (41st place, 185) rounded out the
Mount competitors in the field.
Long Island leads the three-day competition with a score of 639,
one stroke ahead of Sacred Heart (640) while Robert Morris (646),
Fairleigh Dickinson (648), Saint Francis (Pa.) (666), Central
Connecticut State (681), the Mount (700), Monmouth (702), Wagner
(713) and St. Francis (N.Y.) (731) and rounded out the 10-team
field. The Mountaineers shot a 351 in the first round and improved
by two strokes in the second round with a 349 for a score of 700.
The two-round score for Mount St. Mary's is the third-best team
mark at the championships in program history.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action with the final round of the
NEC Championships on Sunday.
