CHAMPIONSGATE, Fla. - Christina Koerper (Huntingdon Valley,
Pa./Mount St. Joseph Academy) finished 18th in the first round to
pace the Mount St. Mary's women's golf team to an eighth-place
standing at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's Golf
Championships on Friday.
Koerper shot a 43 on the front nine and then posted a 42 in the
final nine holes to post an 85 on the afternoon, nine strokes
behind the current leader.
Autumn Serruta (Avon, Conn./Avon) (24th place, 88), Sarah Roe
(Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) (29th place, 89),
Christina Hall (Wall, N.J./Wall) (29th place, 89) and Megan Corbett
(Danbury, Conn./Danbury) (44th place, 95) rounded out the Mount
competitors in the field.
Long Island leads the three-day competition with a score of 318,
10 strokes ahead of Sacred Heart (328) while Fairleigh Dickinson
(330), Central Connecticut State (332), Robert Morris (334), Saint
Francis (Pa.) (339), Monmouth (250), the Mount (351), St. Francis
(N.Y.) (364) and Wagner (369) rounded out the 10-team field.
The 351 is the seventh-best round for the Mountaineers at the
NEC Championships while Koerper's first round of 85 is the
12th-best round in Mount championship history.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action with the second round of the
NEC Championships on Saturday.
