a season to remember... Last season,
Mount St. Mary's shattered its record books. Individually, six of
the top-10 single-round scores, 10 new two-round scores and six of
the top-10 three round scores came from the 2008-09 season. As a
team, the squad posted seven of its top-10 single-round scores and
four of its top-10 two-round scores last year. Sophomore Christina
Hall became the first player since Shannon Prettyman in 2006 to
earn medalist honors at the Kutztown Spring Invitational and the
Mountaineers won its first event at Kutztown since 2006. Junior
Megan Corbett became the first women's golfer in program history to
finish in the top-10 at the NEC Championships with an eighth-place
standing to earn a spot on the NEC All-Tournament team.
no more flags, give me top-10... After not
having five players earn a flag at the NEC Championships in the
first 12 years of the program, junior Megan Corbett became the
first player in program history to finish in the top-10 with an
eighth place standing at the NEC Championships. The junior, who was
named to the NEC All-Tournament team, set a new program
single-round record with a 71 in the second round, a two-round mark
of 154 and a three-round standard of 237 on her way to the eighth
place.
new to the mountain... Along with first-year
head coach Scott Keller, freshmen Nicole Fazio, Abbey Fry and Sarah
Roe join the team in 2009-10. In addition, senior Autumn Serruta
rejoins the team after sitting out her sophomore and junior
campaigns. Serruta competed on the Mountaineers women's golf team
as a freshman.
keller takes over for keller... Scott Keller
enters his first season at the Mount as the head coach of the
women's golf team and replaces his brother, Colyn. Scott Keller
assisted with both the men's and women's golf teams last season and
has the co-owner of the Quail Valley Golf Course in Littlestown,
Pa., for the last four years.
