POOLER, Ga. - Christina Hall (Wall, N.J./Wall) finished third to
lead the Mount St. Mary's women's golf team to a third-place
standing after the first round of the Lonnie Barton Invitational on
Monday.
Hall posted a 39 on the front nine and a 46 on the back nine to
finish with an 85, six strokes behind the current leader in the
Mount's first competition of the spring.
Christina Koerper (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Mount St. Joseph
Academy) and Autumn Serruta (Avon, Conn./Avon) also finished in the
Top-10 after the first day. Koerper finished tied for fifth with a
round of 87 while Serruta was ninth after posting a round of
89.
Megan Corbett (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) (18th place, 95) and
Sarah Roe (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memoral) (19th place, 96)
rounded out the Mount's five competitors. Corbett, who finished
eighth at last year's NEC Championships, makes her 2009-10 debut in
the event after studying abroad in the fall.
Long Island leads its own event with a score of 345, 10 strokes
ahead of Fairfield (355) while the Mount (356), Laval (369) and
Monmouth (394) round out the participating schools.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Tuesday in the final round
of the Lonnie Barton Invitational.
