The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team closed out the fall
season by sweeping past Rider and Saint Francis (Pa.) by 7-0
scores. The Mount downed the Red Flash on Saturday night before
earning the sweep of Rider on Sunday.
In the win over Rider, the Mount did not drop a set in sweepting
all six singles matches. Emily
Bolchoz won 6-3, 6-2 over Tricia Ashmore at the No. 1 spot in
the lineup. Samantha
Pinchoff downed Marly Roche, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 2 singles while
Kelly
Conroy cruised past Kim Leder, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 singles. Carly
Landini was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Mallory Garbaravage at No. 4
singles with Emma
Haley earning a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles over Danielle
White. Renee
Deane was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Jacklyn Giameo at No. 6
singles.
Against Saint Francis, the Mount dropped just four games while
sweeping all three doubles matches for the doubles point. In
singles play, Bolchoz and Pinchoff each posted 6-1, 6-0 wins at No.
1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Conroy was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at
No. 3 singles over Caitlin Bart while Landini edged Devynn Sarver,
6-2, 2-6, 10-5, in a super tiebreaker at No. 4 singles. Haley and
Deane earned straight-set wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots,
respectively.
