Emily Menotti (Dover, Pa./Dover) scored in the second overtime
to lift Mount St. Mary's to a 2-1 victory over Bryant in women's
soccer action on Sunday afternoon. The Mount rallied from a 1-0
second-half deficit to earn the victory.
Menotti's goal, her fourth of the season, completed a rally that
saw the Mount score with 2:03 left in regulation to force
overtime. Mary McCarron (Beltsville, Md./Elizabeth Seton) added an
assist on the game-winner. It was Menotti's 13th career
goal and gives her 34th career points, moving her into
fourth on the Mount's all-time scoring list.
At the end of regulation, Sadie Winship (York, Pa./Eastern York)
drilled a deep shot into the left inside part of the goal for her
fourth goal of the season to equal the score with 2:03 left in
regulation. Kelly Baker (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) earned an
assist on the play,.
Bryant's Kaitlyn Hinck converted a pass from Alex Bengston for
the game's first goal in the 59th minute to give the
Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage. Hinck's shot was from six yards out and
went to the left corner of the goal.
Bryant outshot the Mount, 31-24 in the game, but the Mount held
a 16-to-14 advantage in shots on goal. Bryant goalkeeper Kelsi
Jacob made 14 saves in the loss while Alicia Miller (Lititz,
Pa./Warwick) made 12 saves in the victory for the Mount (4-7-2,
2-1-1 NEC).
In the first half, Bryant (2-9-0, 0-4-0 NEC) held a 9-to-5
advantage in shots. Each team, however, had three shots on goal
with each goalkeeper making three saves in the opening stanza.
The Mount returns to action on Friday, October 16, with a 4:00
p.m. home game against Northeast Conference rival Saint Francis
(Pa.) at Waldron Family Stadium on campus.
