WILLIAMSBURG,
Va. Freshman Christina Hall (Wall, N.J./Wall) posted the
second-best score in program history to help the Mount St. Mary's
women's golf team to a team one-round program record at the Eastern
College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on Saturday. Hall sits in ninth place and the
Mount stands in 11th place going into the final round.
Hall
posted a 39 on the front nine and a 39 on the final nine holes for
a score of 78 to finish the first round in ninth place, six strokes
behind the current leader. Hall's 78 is the second-best mark in
program history, one stroke behind Katie Letsch's (Blue Point,
N.Y./Bayport Blue Point) standard of 77 set at the Monmouth
Invitational on Apr. 2, 2007.
The
Mount's team score established a new program record for one round
with a 333, two strokes better than the 335 the squad carded in the
second round of the Monmouth Invitational. It marked the fifth time
in team history the Mountaineers recorded a round under
340.
Along
with Hall, junior Christina Koerper (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Mount
St. Joseph Academy) (35th place, 82), Maddy Martin (LaVale,
Md./Allegany) (42nd place, 83), Ananda Rochita (San Francisco,
Calif./Lowell) (65th place, 90) and Letsch (79th place, 95) rounded
out Mount St. Mary's team players. Megan Corbett (Danbury,
Conn./Danbury) (65th place, 90) competed in the event as an
individual.
St.
John's and Princeton lead the competition with a score of 309, two
strokes ahead of Lehigh (311) while Albany (317) and Boston (319)
rank in the Top-5 of the 17-team field.
The event
marks the debut of new head coach Colyn Keller, who took over the
coaching responsibilities after the Bucknell
Invitational.
The Mount
returns to action on Sunday in the final round of the ECAC
Championships.
