The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team opened the 2006-07
season with a 5-0 win over Loyola at the Towson Tiger Invitational
on Friday afternoon. The Mount faces Loyola, Washington and St.
Joseph's in round robin play in the tournament. The matches are
best of five consisting of four singles and one doubles match.
Sophomore Kaitlin Hallahan earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Caitlin
Day at the No. 1 singles spot for the Mount. The match was
Hallahan's first as the No. 1 singles player for the Mount. Senior
Katie Muething earned an easy 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over
Stephanie Dunn while fellow senior Jen Iosue earned a 6-0, 6-0 win
at No. 3 singles over Lauren Cassle. In the final singles match,
freshman Chelsea Johnson earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Kerri Swan at
No. 4 singles.
In doubles action, seniors Whitney Edmonds and Alicia Patterson
combined for a 6-3, 6-3 win over Suzanne Lee and Jennifer Zutz.
