Meghan Haspert and Colleen Regan scored first-half goals to lead
the Mount St. Mary's women's soccer team past St. Peter's, 2-0, in
a non-conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon at Jaroschak Field
in Jersey City, N.J. Goalkeeper Anna Lebo made three saves to earn
the shutout for the Mount. The win is the Mount's first this
season.
Haspert converted an Erin Canning cross 5:14 into the game to
give the Mount (1-3) an early 1-0 advantage. It was Haspert's
second goal of the season and fifth of her career. Regan tallied
her goal at the 23:26 mark of the first half when she redirected a
Jenn Baker free kick to give the Mount a 2-0 edge at the half.
The Mount held the Peahens off the scoreboard the rest of the
way to preserve the victory. Mount St. Mary's held a 16-to-5
advantage in shots, including a 10-3 edge in the second half.
Jillian Fueshko made seven saves in the loss for St. Peter's
(0-4).
The Mount returns to action at Florida Atlantic on Friday, Sept.
15, at 5:30 p.m.
