Keith Chesley arrived with Head Men's Basketball Coach Donny Lind as an assistant coach, beginning with the 2024-25 season.
Chesley was a member of staff under Andrew Wilson at the Virginia Military Institute, serving as assistant coach and defensive coordinator. The Keydets played an up-tempo style with a youthful roster, and ranked 37th nationwide for defensive rebounds per game, crashing the glass an average of 27 times per contest. Before his time at VMI, Chesley made spots at Army West Point, James Madison, Georgia Southern, Stetson, and Florida State. He was an assistant for Army, director of basketball operations for JMU, Georgia Southern, and Stetson, and served as a graduate assistant for FSU.
As a player, he scored 2,119 points for the University of Maine-Augusta, becoming the all-time leading scorer for the program. A four-time Academic All-American with the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, he was named to the Yankee Small College Conference All-Decade Team and earned the organization's National Student-Athlete of the Year award in 2015. He met his wife Jamie at the college, where she leads the women's program in points, and earned a spot on the YSCC All-Decade Team along with being an Academic All-American. The couple were inducted together into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022. He graduated from Maine-Augusta in 2015 and a master's from Florida State in 2018.
