Brian Martin begins his first season as Director of BasketballOperations on head coach Bryan Whitten's staff in 2012-13.
Martin comes to the Mount from Hood College in Frederick,Md. He played a key role in bringing in one of the largestrecruiting classes for the upcoming 2012 season. Martin wasalso instrumental in individual player development, scouting andgame preparation.
“Brian has a lot of local coaching experience, is fromFrederick, and knows the local community very well,” saidWhitten. “In his role as Director of Operations, he willbe responsible for a lot of the daily organization of what we doand that will allow our assistant coaches more one-on-one time withour players. As we are always looking to increase ourpresence in the local community, Brian’s relationships willhelp us continue to build in that area.”
Martin began his coaching career in 1997 as an assistant girls'basketball coach at Brunswick High. In 2006, he assumed coachingduties with the Blue Ridge Force AAU girl’s basketballprogram. The squad captured the 2010 Division II statechampionship. In 2009, he became head coach for the Maryland HeatAAU girls program.

In 2007, Martin served as an assistant girls' basketball coachat Notre Dame Academy in Middleburg, Va. The Dragons finished the2007-08 season 28-2 and ranked No. 4 in the nation by ESPNHoopgurlz.
Martin then helped launch the girl’s basketball program atOakdale High School as an assistant. In the program's first seasonin 2010, the Bears finished with an overall record of18-5.
Martin is a former two-sport athlete at Brunswick High Schoolwho lettered in soccer and basketball. He went on to attend WestVirginia and is a member of the school's All-American Society andthe 1100 Club.
A 1994 graduate of West Virginia University with a degree inadvertising and minor in business administration, Martin is anative of Brunswick and brings a wealth of basketball experience tothe Mount.
Martin and his wife, Laura, have two sons, Collin and Bryce, anda daughter, McKenna, and live in Middletown.
