Two-time Tewaaraton Award winner and U.S. National Team member Katie Schwarzmann completed her fourth season as an assistant women's lacrosse coach at the Mount in 2017.
Schwarzmann made her way to Emmitsburg following an impressive run at the University of Maryland, becoming just the third women's player to win back-to-back Tewaaraton Awards, given to the most outstanding college lacrosse player by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
In April of 2016, Schwarzmann was selected with the first overall pick by the Baltimore Ride in the inaugural draft of United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX), the first-ever professional women's lacrosse league in the world.
During the summer of 2013, Schwarzmann helped the United States win the World Cup held in Oshawa, Canada. In the team's seven games, the midfielder scored 10 goals and added four assists as the Americans outscored their opponents 128-34. Schwarzmann was also named to the 2017 U.S. National team, which is set to compete in the FIL Women's World Cup in Guildford, England this July.
As a collegiate player at Maryland, Schwarzmann guided the Terrapins to the 2010 NCAA National Championship as a freshman. Maryland returned to the finals in 2011 and 2013 and also made a run to the Final Four in 2012. Schwarzmann was a four-time IWLCA All-American, including three First Team selections as an undergrad.
In addition to earning All-America status, Schwarzmann was named Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year and ACC Tournament MVP as both a junior and a senior. During all four years of her career, Schwarzmann was recognized as an All-ACC selection as well as a member of the All-ACC Tournament team. Schwarzmann helped the Terps capture four ACC Championships, recording 228 goals and 76 assists during her career.
Schwarzmann's coaching background includes experience with Hero's Lacrosse Club in Howard County as well as Elevate Lacrosse and Maximum Exposure Lacrosse in College Park, Md.
As a student-athlete, Schwarzmann excelled in the classroom, earning ACC Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2012 and 2013 and was a four-year member of the All-ACC Academic Team.
Schwarzmann graduated from the University of Maryland in May of 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management and marketing. Schwarzmann earned her MBA from the Mount in 2015.
