Farwell HS 2022

Olivia Farwell

Mount St. Mary's bowling has named Olivia Farwell to lead the program as head coach. Farwell – a member of the professional circuit and coach for Lincoln Memorial University – becomes the second coach in program history.

During her first season at the helm, the Mountaineers qualified for the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championships, going 3-2 at the event. A pair of individuals - Piper Chalmers and Leah Varela - made the Intercollegiate Singles Championships as well. In the regular season, the team accumulated 66 wins, including a victory over defending national champion Jacksonville State.

In 2023-24, Farwell served as head coach for Lincoln Memorial in Harrogate, Tennessee. The Railsplitters won 37 games – capped off by a win over #2 Arkansas State – and took fourth place at the Conference Carolina's Championship. Haley Powell and Kayleigh McMullen garnered First Team all-conference honors. Her first foray into college coaching came here at the Mount, working as a volunteer assistant in 2022-23.

As a competitor, she competed for her country as a member of Team USA in 2023-24 and Junior Team USA in 2018-19. She is also a professional bowler, winning the Professional Women's Bowling Association's Rookie of the Year honors in 2022-23. Farwell is a member of Team SPI, specializing in using Roto Grip equipment.

On the collegiate circuit, she bowled for Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where she anchored the Dukes as a National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Rookie of the Year. She earned four All-American honors and four all-conference nods from the Northeast Conference. The NEC also tabbed Farwell as Player of the Year twice, along with a Rookie of the Year honor and the Sportsmanship Award. She also served as a captain for the Dukes, who consistently ranked in the top 15 nationwide.

An alumnus of Elizabethtown High School in nearby Lancaster County, she set many records at both the state and national levels. The Bears won two regional titles and the 2014 Team Girls State Championship with Farwell in attendance. Her family are owners and operators of Clearview Lanes in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania.
