Silvia Chinellato

Silvia Chinellato has been tabbed to lead the Mount St. Mary’s men’s and women’s tennis teams, beginning with the 2023-24 season. Chinellato, a former University of South Carolina tennis standout, was an assistant coach at the Mount last season.

In her first season on the Mount’s coaching staff, she helped lead the women’s team to a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) playoff spot while coaching the MAAC’s Player and Rookie of the Year, Victoria Papadopoulou.

A five-year member of the Gamecocks, Chinellato amassed a 70-40 record in doubles with a 72-50 mark for singles. Most of her time as a singles player went in the #4 slot, boasting a winning mark of 24-16 and 11-7 in the SEC. Paired mainly in the #2 doubles position, she helped build a record of 20-11 (10-7 SEC). In her junior year, Chinellato earned a SEC Player of the Week acknowledgement following a 4-0 week against Clemson and #20 Texas Tech.

Chinellato has worked in the professional ranks as a Racquets Pro for the Chevy Chase Club in Montgomery County, providing lessons and coaching teams. She also interned at two facilities in Columbia while an undergraduate.

Originally from Italy, Chinellato graduated Magna Cum Laude from South Carolina with a degree in Tourism and Management, receiving a place on the SEC Academic Honor Roll and named an ITA Scholar-Athlete. Along with academic achievements, she served as a member of SAAC and was named to the SEC Community Team in 2020.
