As an assistant coach at the Mount, Holt has helped create the Recruiting Coordinator position, organized staff, created tracking and communication systems, also helped to manage parent relationships. This included the transfer portal management and assignment of duties. He is also responsible for assisting with offense and defense, and built scouting reports and communicated the reports with the staff and team. Holt has been responsible for social media, and helped to develop videos and content. He has organized and led leadership activities, including book studies and mindset development. Holt introduced new technology to improve the team's practice, in-game evaluations, while also tasked with academic accountability, and raised team GPA from 2.89 to 3.4 in two seasons.

In 2019, Holt served as the Mount's top assistant and defensive coordinator.  The Mount improved it's defensive rank from 64th to 19thin Division 1 regular season play that year. He also coached and mentored the NEC Defensive Player of the Year, two First Team All-NEC players, one Second Team All-NEC player, and one USILA Scholar All-American. During that season, Holt helped coach the team to regular season NEC Conference Champions for the second time in school history. Off the field, Holt introduced new technology that assisted in player development, game planning, scouting reports, and film review.

Before coming back to the Mount, Holt spent three seasons at Saint James School in Hagerstown, Maryland. As head coach in 2018, he led the Saints to a 10-win season as they reached the Mid-Atlantic Conference Semifinals. Through recruitment and player development, Holt helped build Saint James to an annual contender during his tenure.

Holt's first stint with the Mountaineers was when he worked as a volunteer coach and director of lacrosse operations for two years. He worked primarily with face-off specialists and one on them went to set an NCAA record. Holt was part of the coaching staff that led the Mount to two conference championship appearances, and their first ever NEC regular season championship.

Holt has also worked with the U-19 US Indoor Lacrosse Team as an assistant coach and vice president of operations. He entered the coaching realm as an assistant at Urbana High School in 2006, and helped lead the team to three Maryland State Championships and a Final Four appearance.

Holt, a former lacrosse and football player at Penn State, went on to play professional lacrosse for the Charlotte Copperheads and Philadelphia Wings. He was a member of the US Indoor Development Team from 2009-13, and represented Team USA's Indoor squad at the BowHunter Cup in 2013.
