Former Mount St. Mary's distance runner Grace King returns to Emmitsburg beginning with the 2023-24 season as a coach for the cross country and track & field teams.
Upon graduation, King went back to Mercy High School in Baltimore to work as a science teacher. Also returning to the athletics field, she served as the Head Coach for both Cross Country and Indoor Track, and assisting with the outdoor track team as well. The 2021 and 2022 cross country teams went undefeated both years with IAAM Conference Championships, the school's first since 2004. Seven runners earned all-conference status in the process. On the indoor/outdoor track, Mercy athletes set multiple school records, and conference meet records for the 4x800 meter relay (indoor, outdoor) and the 3200 meter for the outdoor season.
King ran for the Mount from her freshman to junior years, running in all three seasons. Registering times in six events, King participated in nine Northeast Conference Championships.
