A dedicated alumnusĀ and administrator at Mount St. Mary's University for thirty-nine years, Phil McGlade served as Director of Alumni Relations from1976 to 2004 and later Director of Seminary Development and Alumni Relations until his retirement in 2014. During his years at the Mount, he was involved in assisting with many challenges facing the Athletic Department. In 1981, McGlade joined with Kevin Robinson Sr., MBA'80, the late George Gelles, C'64 and Rob Herb, C'78 in establishing the Mount Club to generate much needed revenue for the Athletic Program and he coordinated inaugural promotional events in the Washington, Baltimore and Harrisburg metro areas.Ā
In the mid-eighties, McGlade served on eight NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional and Quarterfinal Tournament Committees for men's and women's basketball games hosted by the Mount. From 1984-1986, he was a member of two College Athletic Divisional Status Review Committees which recommended a move to Division I. He was also a member of the President's Athletic Conference Affiliation Search Committee. A few of McGlade's additional committee memberships include: the Director of Athletics Search and NCAA Certification, Governance, in 1994 and several Sports Information Director searches.Ā
McGlade reflected: "To receive the Hall of Fame's Father John "Spike" Cogan Award, named for a revered Mount priest and legend, is an award that I will truly cherish."Ā
