LEWISBURG, N.Y. (May 13, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's baseball started their final Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series of the year against Niagara with a 15-4 win against the Purple Eagles on Wednesday. With the win, the Mountaineers move to an overall record of 21-25 while recording a 12-16 record in the MAAC.
During Wednesday's game in Lewisburg,
Alex Mendes stole second base in the top of the fifth inning, tying Myles Nicholson's 2019 record of 37 stolen bases in a single season, needing only one more to have solo ownership over the record.
After a successful double-occurred in the top of the first in which
Ty Fredo stole home for the first run of the game, Fredo singled later in the top of the second, batting in
Carson Clark from third. But the Mount run outpour truly came later in the top of the third, as the Mountaineers dropped an eight-spot against Niagara in the top half of the inning.
Evan Meier started the scoring in the Mount half of the third, hitting out a three-run home run followed by
Christian Bauman reaching base on a fielding error, scoring
Ryan McKay. Mendes later flew out in the inning, scoring
Mike Toth on the Sacrifice Fly.
Ty Fredo later scored on a while pitch in the inning followed by a
Cameron Biller single to right field that scored
Christian Bauman to cap off the third.
Biller continued his stellar evening in the Mount half of the fifth, sending out a two-run shot. Later in the top of the ninth inning, Bauman singled while later advancing to second on a throwing error by the third baseman, scoring Toth once again. Following Bauman's single, Biller flew out to centerfield, sending Fredo home of the sacrifice fly. And
David Stokely ended the Mount bats afternoon, singling to left field while scoring Bauman on the hit.
From the plate, Biller led the way, going 3-4 with four RBIs, a home run, and two runs scored.
Evan Meier drove in three RBIs against the Purple Eagles with his home run. And Fredo went 2-3 with an RBI, three runs scored, and three walks. On the mound,
Serigne Sarre pitched seven innings of two-run baseball, striking out eight while earning his fourth win of the year.
Maximus McCrary and
JB Manarchuck also featured out of the bullpen against Niagara on Wednesday while combining for two innings and two strikeouts.
