EMMITSBURG, Md. — Mount St. Mary's men's tennis delivered a dominant performance, blanking Gettysburg 6–0. The Mount improved to 4–9 on the season, while Gettysburg dropped to 3–7.
Mount secured the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Stefanos Pournaropoulous and Nikos Makris opened with a 6–2 victory over Teo Burgess and Owen Kutlu at No. 1, while Joshua Johnson and Luke Papayoanou matched that score with a 6–2 win against Spencer Pompian and Andy Beckerlegge at No. 3. Gettysburg earned its lone doubles win at No. 2.
In singles, the Mount controlled play throughout, winning five matches in straight sets to complete the shutout. Pournaropoulous led the way with a commanding 6–0, 6–1 victory over Connor McPartland at No. 1. Alexi Roy followed with a flawless 6–0, 6–0 win at No. 3, while Ryan Wagner posted a 6–0, 6–1 result at No. 4.
Nikos Makris added a 6–2, 6–0 win at No. 5, and Luke Papayoanou capped the effort with a 6–2, 6–2 victory over JP Damare at No. 6. The No. 2 singles match featuring Akarsh Gaonkar was left unfinished with the Mount sophomore leading in the second set.
