BALTIMORE, Md. — Mount St. Mary's men's tennis dropped a 5–2 decision to Morgan State in non-conference action.
The Mount opened the match strong, capturing the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Ryan Wagner and Alexi Roy earned a 6–4 victory over Majdi Ben Abdelwahed and Yessine Kerouat at the top spot, while Stefanos Pournaropoulos and Akarsh Gaonkar followed with a 6–2 win against Roman Filima and Rhajzon Rankins at No. 2. Morgan State picked up its lone doubles victory at No. 3.
In singles play, the Bears responded by winning five of the six matches to secure the team victory. Pournaropoulos provided the Mount's lone singles point with a strong 6–3, 6–1 win over Rankins at No. 1.
Morgan State earned key wins across the lineup, including a three-set victory at No. 2 where Ilya Maltsev rallied past Gaonkar, 3–6, 6–3, 6–1. Filima added a straight-set win over Roy at No. 3, while Mohamed Ridha Ghettas defeated Wagner at No. 4. The Bears closed out the match with victories at Nos. 5 and 6 to seal the 5–2 result.
