University Park, Pa. (January 31, 2026) — The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Penn State on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup at University Park.
Penn State opened the match by securing the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Emil Matikainen and Eyal Shyovitz earned a 6-1 victory over Stefanos Pournaropoulos and Nikos Makris at No. 2 doubles, while David Lindsay and Michael Wright followed with a 6-2 win against Alexi Roy and Akarsh Gaonkar at the top spot. The Mount picked up a doubles win on court three as Ryan Wagner and Alessio Guarino defeated Jaden Brady and Christos Glavas, 6-4.
In singles play, the Nittany Lions won all six matches to complete the sweep. David Lindsay earned a straight-set victory over Joshua Johnson at No. 3 singles, while Kyle Schoeman followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Roy at No. 2. Eyal Shyovitz posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Wagner, and Michael Wright rallied for a three-set win over Gaonkar at No. 1 singles, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Penn State added wins at the bottom of the lineup as Jaden Brady defeated Andrew Allen, 6-2, 6-1, and Kyle Chesman closed the match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Luke Papayoanou.
