Urosevic and Matthews Lead Men’s Water Polo in Split-Day with Win Against Chapman

CLAREMONT, CA (October 2, 2026) – Mount men's water polo split their games today with a 16-10 win over Chapman and an 11-10 loss against Redlands. This moves their record to 7-10 for the season.
 
Luka Urosevic was the leading scorer in today's win against Chapman, recording seven goals and Will Matthews led the Mountaineers in their loss to Redlands, with scoring five of the ten goals. Urosevic also recorded one assist, and Matthews was the leading playmaker recording four assists across both games. Aleksandar Radosavljevic also was a key offensive player recording five goals in the two games, two in the Chapman game and three in the Redlands game.

In the first quarter of the game against Chapman, Urosevic started the scoresheet for the Mount, with an assist from Matthews. Then Giacomo Graff found the back of cage with help from Giannis Skliras. Urosevic was then able to beat the goalie to put another tally on the sheet,  Radosavljevic got credit for an assist on the goal. Urosevic then scored two more goals, with assists credited to Aaron Tarr and Jack Fox. Radosavljevic then deposited a shot in goal off an assist from Urosevic to end the quarter up 6-4 against Chapman. In the second, the Mount was held scoreless until there were two minutes left, with Urosevic adding three more tallies to the scoresheet. Matthews was credited for an assist on the first shot, with the Mount going into half up 9-6.
 
For second half, the Mount kept energy high starting with a goal from Nathan Valentine off an assist from Matthews. Matthews was then able to find the back of goal himself, with Tarr credited with the assist. Going into the final quarter, the Mount was up 11-8.  Fox shot and scored to open the final quarter. Then Matias Miranda deposited a shot in the cage, followed by another goal by Fox. Radosavljevic then found the back of net with help from Ivan Morales. For the final goal, AJ Waldfogel ball went in the net off a penalty shot to end the game with Mount winning 16-10 as they held Chapman scoreless for the final few minutes. Milan Miskolczi and Matthew Royer each served time in goal, with Miskolczi recording six saves.

In the first quarter against Redlands, the Mount struck first with a goal by Fox off an assist from Matthews. Radosavljevic found the back of goal next and then Matthews beat the goalie to score his first goal. Tarr was credited as an assist on Matthews' goal, the Mount went up 3-2 into the second quarter. The Mount was held scoreless for the entirety of the second, with Redlands going on a 3-0 run to put Mount down 5-3 going into the half.
 
Going into the third, the Mount was able to tie things up at 6-6 after three goals were scored. Tarr struck first, followed by Matthews and then Radosavljevic. Matias Miranda set up Tarr for his goal and then Tarr was credited as an assist on Radosavljevic's goal. Heading into the final quarter, it was a thriller that almost went into overtime with only 20 seconds left when Redland called the game with Mount falling 11-10. The first goal in the fourth was scored by Matthews followed by a penalty shot goal from Radosavljevic. The final two goals of the games came from Matthews as he dented the twine to put it at 10-10 before the final goal came from Redlands to end the game. Miskolczi served as the sole goalkeeper, recording ten saves in this match.
