South Williamsport, Pa. (January 23, 2026) — The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team opened the spring season with a 7-0 loss to Bucknell University on Friday in a non-conference matchup played indoors at the Central PA Tennis Center. The Mount moves to 0-1 overall.
Bucknell secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. At No. 1, Brendan McDonald and Amar Tahirovic defeated Akarsh Gaonkar and Alexi Roy, 6-4. The Bison clinched the point at No. 3 as William Robinson and Oscar Bain edged Alessio Guarino and Ryan Wagner in a tightly contested tiebreak. Mount St. Mary's picked up a doubles win at No. 2, where Stefanos Pournaropoulos and Nikos Makris topped Shiv Singh and Liam Kilmer, 6-3.
In singles play, Bucknell won all six matches to secure the team victory. The Bison earned straight-set wins at the top three positions, including a 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 1 singles. At No. 4, Ryan Wagner captured the opening set before Robinson rallied for a three-set win. Bucknell also recorded straight-set victories at the fifth and sixth positions.
