BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 28, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's men's tennis wrapped up a successful weekend at the McClure Invitational, hosted by Loyola University, highlighted by five victories against the Greyhounds on the final day of competition.
In singles, Alexi Roy turned in a straight-set win over Nick Lawliss, 6-4, 6-2, while Akarsh Gaonkar added a dominant 6-4, 6-1 decision against Ryan Gill. Nate Helms also cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Aidan Francia Cotter to cap the Mount's singles success against Loyola.
On the doubles courts, the pairing of Stefanos Pournaropoulous and Lucas Evans notched two victories, topping Morgan State's Rankins/Ghettas (7-5, 6-2) before defeating Loyola's Zeiders/Edwards, 6-1, 6-4. In addition, the duo of Ryan Wagner and Daniel Haddadin outlasted Loyola's Rotundo/Castillo in a match tiebreak, 6-3, 3-6 (10-6).
The Mount also picked up several singles victories earlier in the weekend, including wins by Pournaropoulous, Evans, Wagner, and Gaonkar against Howard and Morgan State competition.
Mount St. Mary's will return to action October 3-5 at the MAAC Masters.
