Emmitsburg, Md. (April 23, 2025)--Mount St. Mary's dropped a non-conference matchup to George Mason, 6-1, at Our Lady of the Meadows Field on Wednesday afternoon. Senior first baseman
Brianna Manni had a big day at the plate for the Mount in the loss, going 3-for-3 with her first home run of the season.
The Patriots (18-30) took the lead with a run in the top of the second inning off of Mount starter
Kaya Hannon. George Mason then added two runs in the third, two in the sixth and one more in the seventh to take a 6-0 advantage. The Mount broke up the shutout when Manni drove the ball over the left field fence to make it 6-1. Manni, who is hitting a team-best .379 over the past 22 games, tied her season high with three hits in the game.
Laurenne Gallagher added the Mount's other hit in the contest.
All five pitchers on the Mount's roster saw action in the contest. Hannon allowed one run and two hits in two innings in her second start of the season.
Olivia Murphy pitched two innings, allowing two hits and two runs,
Sophia Schmehl pitched a scoreless fifth inning,
Amaya Bowman allowed two runs (one earned) in one inning of work, and
Ellie Meier allowed an unearned run in the seventh.
The Mount is back in action on Friday, April 25, with a doubleheader at Merrimack.
