Women’s Lacrosse Clinches No. 1 Seed at MAAC Championship with 18-5 Win Over Merrimack

EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 19, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse clinched the #1 seed at the upcoming Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship and at least a share of the regular season title in convincing fashion, defeating Merrimack 18-5 Saturday at Waldron Family Stadium. As a result, the Mount receive a double bye for the championship and host the semifinals and finals in Emmitsburg.
 
An efficient Mountaineer offense tallied their 18 goals on 27 shots, 21 of which were on target. Mackenzi Furlong had the highest point total with seven, balanced between four goals and three assists. Anna Salerno added four goals of her own for her ninth straight hat trick. Madison Harmening and Brooke Molchanoff each had four point days.
   
The duo of Camille Thomas and Delaney LaRose saved nine of the Warriors' 14 shots on goal. Thomas finished with six saves and LaRose with three. A group of six Mountaineers collected one caused turnover each, and Mackey Fick completed four ground balls.
   
Striking for the first four goals, the Mount took swift control of the game. Logan Cook was the first to score, followed by Harmening, Anna McQuay, and Salerno. The closest Merrimack got was 6-3 before the Mount rattled off a 4-0 run to end the half. That run extended to 11-0 before the Warriors added two goals in the fourth quarter.
 
Mount St. Mary's finishes the regular season at 11-5 (7-1 MAAC) and clinched their first regular season title since 2021, when they were members of the Northeast Conference.
   
The semifinals of the MAAC Championship begin on May 2 in Emmitsburg.
