EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 18, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball lost a 7-4 contest to Marist during the second game of their series on Friday. With the loss, the Mountaineers fall to 15-22 and 8-9 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.
After Marist took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first,
Nick Fleming doubled to drive in
Evan Meier to start the bottom of the third.
Mateo Zeppieri extended his home run streak to two games after he sent a line drive to left center to drive in Fleming on the maximum to end a three-run inning for the Mount.
In the seventh, a throwing error brought home two Red Fox base runners to tie the game at 3-3- only for
Nolan Book to hit out a home run to left field to regain a 4-3 lead.
Serigne Sarre gave up a single in the top of the ninth to tie the game at 4-4, with Marist taking a 5-4 lead after Noel Rivera scored on a close play at home. Marist went on to hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth and with the Mountaineers unable to capitalize with the bases loaded in the bottom of the inning, the series will end up being decided in game three.
