EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 1, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball fell to George Washington at home on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 6-5. With the loss, the Mount falls to 12-15 record while maintaining a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference record of 6-6.
The Mountaineer scoring efforts began early, with the home side putting up four runs within the first three innings. A
Ty Fredo single scored
Sam Grube in the bottom of the first followed by a single from
Evan Meier in the bottom of the second that scored
Mateo Zeppieri for an early 2-0 lead.
Bryce Rudisill continued his long ball streak against the Revolutionaries, hitting out a two-run home run in the bottom of the third to extend the lead to four runs.
Even with a bases loaded walk by
Mateo Zeppieri in the bottom of the fifth, which scored
Evan Smith, the Mountaineer bullpen found it hard to keep GW off the board as the Revolutionaries put up three runs between the fourth and fifth inning. Three George Washington runs came across in the top of the seventh, rounding out both scoring efforts for both teams and guaranteeing a loss for the home side.
Fredo and Nolan book both put up two-hit days in Emmitsburg, with Fredo knocking in an RBI and working a walk. Rudisill went 1-4 while knocking in two RBIs and recording a walk. And although Zeppieri went 0-2 on the day, the senior transfer from Seattle worked three walks while driving in a bases loaded run.
Kaden Kimble,
Josh Halcisak, and
Owen Crowe all recorded three strikeouts in their outings, with Halcisak being accredited with the loss, moving his season record to 2-3.
