Baseball Splits First Day Doubleheader With Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (March 28, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball split the first day of their series in New England against Merrimack, losing the first game 8-3 while winning the second match up 4-2. With the split, the Mountaineers move to an 11-15 record with a 5-6 record in the MAAC.

Merrimack started their first MAAC contest against the Mount hot, scoring five runs in the first two innings. The Mountaineers responded in the top of the second after Kyle Cincinnati scored on a error by the left field, scoring Nick Fleming and Nolan Book. The team scored their final run of the first game in the top of the eight after a Mateo Zeppieri double scored Ty Fredo, but the early run total set by the Warriors was too much for the Mountaineers to claw their way back late in the game.

In game two of the day against Merrimack, the Mount waited nearly seven innings before coming across the plate in the top of the seventh. Ethan Flaugher reached base after an error committed by the Warriors third basemen drove in Bryce Rudisill. Flaugher later scored on a Jake Maske single, tying the game at 2-2. This was followed by a bases loaded walk by Fredo driving in Maske as the go-ahead run. The Mount added one more run in the top of the ninth after a Rudisill single scored Fredo to buy an insurance run, guaranteeing a Mount victory. Serigne Sarre was accredited with his third win on the year while striking out nine Merrimack batters.
