Men’s Soccer Falls in 2-0 Decision at Fairfield

EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 25, 2025) – Hopes for a critical point in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) standings by Mount St. Mary's men's soccer got denied by Fairfield Saturday, as the Mountaineers fell 2-0 to the Stags.

Despite the two-goal difference, the two sides battled evenly in the stats column. Fairfield edged the Mount in shots 17-13, with the visitors taking 10 chances in the second half in a bid to try and level the score. Julian Marcos finished the contest with six saves. Each side got several opportunities for set pieces from the corner, with eight to the Stags and seven to the Mountaineers.

A penalty in the 43rd minute awarded to Fairfield took a favorable bounce after a Marcos save, allowing William Pierce to score. The 1-0 halftime score became 2-0 in fast fashion when Pipeloreoluwa Olanrewaju scored in the 48th minute with a Pierce assist.

With the defeat, the Mount falls to 2-7-5 for the season and 2-4-1 in MAAC play.

Returning home Wednesday (Oct. 29), Mount St. Mary's takes on Canisius in a 4 p.m. kickoff.
