MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (September 15, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's men's water polo defeated Mercyhurst 17-10 on the final day of this weekend's Salem Invitational. This came after a 15-9 loss earlier in the day to Salem.
Aaron Tarr grabbed back-to-back hat tricks in today's games as he led the team in scoring with 10 goals across the weekend.
Michael Lemishko followed the goal scoring efforts of Tarr, adding seven goals to the team's tally for the invite. While absent for the first three games of the invite,
Alexandros Bellesis scored four goals against Mercyhurst to put himself within two goals of the all-time goal record for the men's program.
After a record breaking 25 saves yesterday,
Vasilije Marinkovic made 10 saves in the win against Mercyhurst to bring his weekend total to 35 saves.
Sherif Hosni continued his form from the first game as he recorded nine saves against Salem to bring his weekend total to 21 saves in two games played.
The Mount returns to action next weekend in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania at the Bucknell Invite as they play Bucknell on Friday, September 20 and Fordham, Wagner, and Saddleback on Saturday, September 21.
