Annapolis, Md. (September 13, 2024)—The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team opened a busy weekend with six athletes competing at the Joe Hunt Invitational at the US Naval Academy on Friday. The Mountaineers won four of five singles matches on Friday.
In singles play,
Alexi Roy won in straight sets over Andrew Nicolae of FDU, 7-6, 6-3 while
Filippos Zachiotis rallied from a set down to top FDU's Joshua Oboniye, 0-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Akarsh Gaonkar had a straight set win while
Alessio Guarino earned a come-from-behind victory. In doubles, Gaonkar and
Ryan Wagner downed a pair from Mary Washington.
The Joe Hunt Invitational continues on Saturday before wrapping up on Sunday. The Mount will also have seven athletes competing at the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.
