Women’s Rugby Defeats Michigan, Advances to Day 2 in Bowl Bracket

EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 27, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's women's rugby earned a victory over Michigan during the first day of the Collegiate Rugby Championship, advancing to Sunday to challenge Northeastern in the Bowl Semifinal.
 
Defeating the Wolverines 29-5 involved four Mountaineers scoring tries, led by Anita Manglona with two of them. Emma Jacobs, Lily Myers, and Sydney Sibilia also scored for the squad. Manglona and Myers delivered on conversion kicks to further extend the scoring.
 
The win was part of a 1-1 day which included a defeat, 19-5, to American International. The Yellow Jackets scored two tries against the Mount's one plus a pair of conversions. Katie Stern crossed the try zone to get the Mount on the scoreboard.
 
Sunday's (Apr. 28) contest with the Northeast Huskies begins at 10 a.m. at the Stadium on the Maryland SoccerPlex grounds.
