Bowles is the third player in Mount history to hit three home runs in a game, joining Rachel Heinze (3HR vs. UMBC on May 3, 2017) and Liz Christiansen (3HR vs. CCSU on March 28, 2010). Bowles finished the game 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, three home runs, 14 total bases and six RBI. She leads the Mountaineers with seven doubles, eight home runs and 27 RBI this season.
Bowles gave the Mount the early 1-0 lead with a solo shot to left in the bottom of the first inning. Saint Peter's took advantage of a couple of Mount miscues in the top of the second, scoring five times to take the lead. Bowles got the Mount right back into the game, belting a three-run homer in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 5-4.
Saint Peter's answered again, scoring three runs in each of the next to innings to build an 11-to-4 advantage. The Mount (10-25, 3-11 MAAC) scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to get back into the game.
Zoe Truxon and
Abigayle Perry each singled to open the frame, and
Julia Vincent followed with an RBI base hit for the first run of the inning. Bowles followed with a drive to the fence in left for a two-run double to trim the deficit to four.
After Saint Peter's added a pair of runs in the seventh, Bowles closed out her career day by blasting a long home run over the left-field fence to make the final score 13-8.
Mount St. Mary's is back in action with a three-game MAAC series at Rider on Tuesday and Wednesday.
