Men's Tennis Closes Season with 6-1 Win at Gettysburg

Gettysburg, Pa. (April 17, 2024)--The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team closed out the 2023-24 season with a 6-1 victory at Gettysburg. The Mountaineers finish the season with an 8-14 overall record.

The Mount swept the doubles matches to take the doubles point. Elliot Stevens and Victor Mignot edged Alex Kagan and Adam Contract, 7-6 (9-6) at the No. 1 doubles spot. Junior Filippos Zachiotis and graduate student Jarrett Karnibad teamed for a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. The duo finish their Mount career together with a 46-17 record as a doubles pair, the most wins in program history by a duo. The pair posted a 16-9 record this season in doubles play together. Karnibad finishes his Mount career with 55 individual doubles wins, good for fifth on the Mount's all-time list. Marcel Cronin and Luke Papayoanou earned a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles for the Mount as well.

In singles play, Zachiotis swept Mikey Fellman, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 1 singles while Akarsh Gaonkar was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Contract at No. 2. Papayoanou, Karnibad and Ryan Wagner all posted straight set wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
