GENEVA, OHIO (February 17th, 2024) – Concluding the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships the women's swimming and diving team finished in fifth place after tallying a score of 312.5, while the men finished seventh with a final score of 294.
Timmy Bonner was the lone diver representing Mount St. Mary's today as the graduate student finished eighth in the men's 1-meter dive with a final score of 167.10.
Lauren Wetzel started the scoring for the women after a ninth-place nod in the 200-Yard Backstroke, tallying a time of 2:03.94, earning nine points.
Meghan Speicher and
Maddy Samuels followed an event later, in the 100-Freestyle, with seventh and eighth place finishes, earning their team 23 points. The women highlighted the day in the 39
th event as swimmers
Christina Lazari, Samuels,
Madison Murphy, and Speicher earned a second-place nod, tallying a time of 3:26.86 in the 400-Free Relay and adding 34 points.
Jason Fitch opened the score sheet for the men after finishing fourth in the 200-Back, tallying a time of 1:46.31, earning 15 points.
Austin Toland and
Nicholas Santorelli followed an event later, in the 100-Free, sixth and 13
th place finishes, collectively earning 17 points. The men closed their day with a seventh-place nod in the 400-Free Relay as swimmers Toland,
Lucas Hancock,
Griffin Distler, and Santorelli finished with a time of 3:04.81, adding 24 points to their total.
