Washington, D.C. (February 10, 2024)--The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team earned a 4-1 road win over Howard on Saturday afternoon. The Mountaineers improve to 3-4 on the season with the win over the Bison.
The Mount opened the match by taking the doubles point.
Jarrett Karnibad and
Filippos Zachiotis earned a 6-3 win over Gabe Knowles and Mitchell Yon for the first doubles win for the Mount.
Elliot Stevens and
Victor Mignot sealed the doubles point with a 7-5 victory over Justin Cadeau and Michael Major, Jr., at the No.1 doubles position.
In singles play, Stevens won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, over Kendrick Lash at No. 4 singles to put the Mount ahead, 2-0. Mignot then posted a straight set win (6-4, 6-3) over Marcel Dawson at the No. 1 position. Cadeau kept Howard in the match with a 6-2, 7-5 win over
Marcel Cronin at No. 3 singles, but Zachiotis clinched the victory with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Major, Jr., at No. 2 singles.
The Mount is off until Friday, February 23, when they head to Bucknell for a 5:00 p.m. matchup.
