Bronx, N.Y. (November 9, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's men's water polo was defeated by Fordham on Saturday afternoon as the Rams beat the Mountaineers 28-8 in New York City. The Mountaineers moved to 5-26 with a conference record of 3-10 while Fordham rounded out a perfect 28-0 regular season.
The Mount had a tough start to the day as Fordham shut out the Mountaineers in a dominant 8-0 first quarter. The Rams continued their scoring heading into the second, but the Mount was able to get on the board with three goals to head into halftime with a score of 14-3.
Fordham continued their ways in the second half as they put fourteen goals past the Mountaineers during play with seven goals scored in both the third and fourth quarters. The Mount put up a fight in the second half, scoring five goals but it wasn't enough to get back in the game as they fell in the Bronx.
Drasko Sekaric put four goals past the Rams goalkeeping corps while
Michael Lemishko,
Alexandros Bellesis,
Jack Fox, and
Aaron Tarr all scored solo goals in their efforts. Tarr also notched an assist as well as three field blocks. Bellesis also contributed to the defensive efforts with three field blocks of his own as well as adding an assist on offense.
