LANCASTER, Pa. (November 22, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's swimming and diving finished day one of their mid-season meet at the Franklin and Marshall Invitational in first place across both programs, with the men scoring 407 points and the women scoring 309 points. As well as a high point tally, the Mount placed first in six of the 10 A Final events held on day one.
To start off finals,
Carmen Del Aguila placed first in the women's 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:55.24, a second off her prelims time.
Christina Lazari won the women's 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 23.34, .02 faster than Bloomsburg's Rylee Wetzel. Both women's 400-Yard Medley and 200-Yard Freestyle relay teams comprised of Lazari, Del Aguila,
Hanna Aggen,
Meghan Speicher,
Madison Murphy, and
Theodora Kanellopoulou placed first in their events with times of 3:47.57 and 1:35.25 respectively.
In the Men's categories, the Mount continued their dominance from where the women left off. The Men's 400-Yard Medley Relay team of
Jason Fitch,
Aidan Grady,
Parker Koenig, and
Austin Toland placed first in the A Final with a time of 3:18.52. This result followed a first-place finish by
Lucas Hancock in the men's 50-Yard Freestyle, with the sophomore finishing with a time of 20.51.
UPCOMING
The Mountaineers return to the pool tomorrow for day two of the Franklin and Marshall Invitational, with prelims slated for a 10:00 a.m. start time followed by a 6:00 p.m. start for finals in the afternoon.
