STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (November 10, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's men's water polo suffered defeat in the final game of the regular season against Wagner today in New York City by a score of 14-10. With this loss, the Mount finishes regular season play with a record of 5-27 with a MAWPC record of 3-11.
The match once again started slow for the Mount as the scoring efforts were thwarted by the Seahawks defense early, being outscored 6-3 heading into the halftime break. A 4-2 third quarter in favor of Wagner did not help the efforts of the Mountaineers to come back in the game. But late in the match during the final period, the Mount put five goals past the Seahawks goalkeeper to keep the match close till the end.
Aaron Tarr tallied a titanic six goals against Wagner from seven shots taken at goal as well as two steals completed and one drawn exclusion.
Alexandros Bellesis added two goals to the Mount's goal tally as well as solo goals from
Michael Lemishko and
Drasko Sekaric. Both
Joseph Maxson and
Vasilije Marinkovic shared time in the cage for the Mountaineers today, with the two making six and 13 saves respectively.
