EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 10, 2024) – By a 3-0 final, Mount St. Mary's men's soccer saw their 2024 season come to a close in the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Quarterfinals to the Iona Gaels.
The homestanding and top seeded Gaels led 15-11 on shots and 13-3 on corner kicks.
Julian Marcos finished with six saves after a busy day in goal.
Graham Dougald took the most shots for the Mountaineers with three, followed by
Junee Lee with two. Lee registered one of three Mount shots on goal, along with
Dominik Topolsky and
Eliot O'Neil.
Iona opened the scoring in the 31
st minute with a goal by Jad Benjelloun. Five minutes later, Thiago Cagna made it 2-0. With the match in hand, Bautista Rossi iced the contest with a goal in the 85
th minute.
Mount St. Mary's participation marks their first postseason match since the 2008 Northeast Conference Championship.
The Mountaineers conclude the season with a record of 3-11-4 and a 3-3-2 in MAAC play.
