Claremont, Calif. (October 5, 2024) – Men's water polo suffered two losses today to Air Force and Pomona-Pitzer 18-10 and 18-13 respectively on their final day of the Gary Troyer Tournament. With the final day of their Tour o California wrapped up, the Mount retains a record of 2-16 as they return home to Emmitsburg to face conference opponents next weekend.
After being outscored at halftime 8-6 with a hat trick from
Chrysostomos Valavanis and two goals from
Michael Lemishko and
Zach Fischer, the Mount were unable to retain the same chances in front of the Falcons goal as they did through the first 16 minutes.
Vasilije Marinkovic came up with 14 saves in front of the cage in the loss.
Aaron Tarr and
Alexandros Bellesis picked up the scoring in the second game against Pomona-Pitzer for the Mount, as they scored four goals each in the final game of the tournament. And although the Mount fell short, the team scored 13 goals against the Sagehens, the most they had scored in any game during their trip out west.
Sherif Hosni recorded 12 saves in goal in his last game of the tour.

The Mountaineers return to play against Salem on Friday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. in their season home opener at the ARCC Pool. They will play MAWPC competition that weekend as well with Mercyhurst coming to Emmitsburg on Saturday, October 12 followed by George Washington and Johns Hopkins on Sunday, October 13.
