Mount Men's Tennis Swept by Drexel on Sunday

Philadelphia, Pa. (January 28, 2024)--The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team was swept by Drexel, 7-0, in a non-conference matchup on Sunday.

The Dragons (2-0) swept the doubles matches to earn the doubles point.  Elliot Stevens and Victor Mignot lost, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles to Alan Jesudason and Alex Sousa while Akarsh Gaonkar and Marcel Cronin fell by the same score to Egor Kirakosov and Will Burridge at No. 2.  Luke Papayoanou and Aaron Thompson were edged by Josue Guzman and Jussein Tawil, 7-5, at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Gaonkar played Tawil at No. 1 singles, falling in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.  Stevens was downed by Sousa at No. 2 (6-2, 6-0), Mignot lost to Burridge at No. 3 (6-0, 6-1), Thompson fell to Kirakosov at No. 4 (6-0, 6-3), Cronin lost to Guzman at No. 5 (6-1, 6-3) and Papayoanou fell at No. 6 to Peirre Humayou, 6-4, 6-4.
