EASTON, Pa. (January 15th, 2024) - Mount swimming and diving finished today's meet with nine first place nods across the board however, fell short in the end as the men's team lost 120-91 while the women's team fell 119-96.
Maddy Samuels highlighted the women's side with a first place finish in the 50-Yard Freestyle after notching a time of 25.13 seconds, while assisting her team in two first place finishes in team events. The women's team open the day with a burst out of the gate after finishing first in the 200-Yard Medley Relay raced by
Hanna Aggen,
Christina Lazari, Meghan Speciher, and Samuels; notching a time of 1:49.25. Aggen and Lazari also added first place nods after Aggen claimed first in the 100-breast with a time of 1:00.87, while Lazari claimed first in the 100-breast with a final time of 1:07.17 After cooling down with races in between, the women capped the day with a first place finish in the 400-Free after tallying a time of 3:45.12.
Austin Toland highlighted the day with a first place nod in the 100-free after finishing with a time of 47.57 seconds, while also assisting his team in two second place and a first place finish. The men's team opened with a second place tally in the 200-Medley relay raced by
Jason Fitch,
Aidan Grady,
Jacob Wallace, and Toland, notching a time of 1:35.03.
Jason Fitch captured a solo win in the 100-Backstroke event after tallying a time of 51.75 seconds. Grady, who has been very reliable this season in the breaststroke events, claimed first in the 100-breast with a final time of 57.38 seconds. To conclude the day the men's team earned a first place nod in the 400-free relay raced by
John Haskins, Toland,
Antonio Gurri, and
Nicholas Santorelli, notching a time of 3:16.32.
