EMMITSBURG, Md. (January 14th, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's swim and dive returns to the pool to compete in a head-to-head dual meet at Lafayette on Monday, January 15
th at 1:00 p.m. Headed into the matchup the women's team sits with a 2-3 overall record while the men's team is 3-2, both sharing dominant wins over Messiah.Â

MOUNT UPDATE

The Mountaineers last competed a month ago against Rider in a road dual meet resulting in a loss on both sides to conclude their 2023 campaign. After collectively claiming eight first place nods in the meet the men fell short 212-79, while the women fell 195-101.
Christina Lazari highlighted the Mount's showcase with two individual first-place finishes in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke while also assisting in a first-place finish in the 200-medley relay.
Maddy Samuels and
Hanna Aggen also claimed first-place finishes in the 50-free and 100-backstroke.

Per the men's side,
Aidan Grady claimed first place in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events, while
Austin Toland earned a first-place nod in the 100-freestyle. Toland,
Griffin Distler,
Lucas Hancock, and
Jason Fitch finished third in the final event of the meet with a time of 3:12.80.

HISTORY WITH LAFAYETTE

Both the men and the women's teams are 0-1 in program history with the only competition played last season on January 16
th, 2023. The men lost 175-94 while the women lost 143-106.
Meghan Speicher posted a remarkable day with two first-place finishes in the 100 and 200-freestyle events while also aiding her team in a second-place nod as the anchor in the 200-medley relay.

Austin Toland all collected first-place nods on the day.
