EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 30th, 2023) - Mount St. Mary's women's rugby knocked on the door first in this game as
Leah Palmesano muscled her way into the tryzone at the three minute mark, however, fell to Army 39-10. The Mountaineers proved strength on their back line and in try zone stands, yet endurance played a factor as the Mount were on their heels most of the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Leah Palmesano started the excitement with a try 3:26 into the game, assisted by Katherine Stern, conversion kick no good (5-0).
- The Black Knights responded at 8:10, conversion kick no good (5-5).
- Army was held up at the try line, yet regained possession and made a push to the left side of the field resulting in an Asha Jarusinki score, kick good (5-10).
- Two more tries were scored before half-time via a full-field fledge to the try zone and an Eisenhart try via a right side push. Army also converted a penalty kick, bringing the half-time score to 27-5.
- The Black Knights scored quickly out of the half, establishing control and intensity. The Mountaineers were unable to make a solid offensive psuh.
- A penalty kick gave the Mountaineers the advantage down the stretch which allowed Emma Jacobs to make her way through a pile of players to score the last try of the game, (39-10).
