Redemption in Morgantown as Men’s Water Polo Wins Two Straight

MORGANTOWN, W.V. (September 24th, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's men's water polo redeem yesterday's tough outing with two in the win column today. The Mountaineers won a tight one this morning against Gannon 12-9 and defeated Penn State Behrend 16-7 later in the day.

Eli Thalos and Aaron Tarr were the x-factors in this morning's game against Gannon. Thalos went 5-6 from the field with a steal and an assist, while Tarr cashed in on two goals but provided his team with intensity on defense snagging seven steals. The Mountaineers were steadier out of the gate as they scored four goals in the first half, while holding Gannon to three. Out of the break the Mountaineers were able to win the third quarter by a 5-2 goal margin and compete in an exciting fourth quarter. Gannon outscored the Mountaineers in the fourth quarter, however, it was not enough to take down the Mountaineers, resulting in a 13-9 win over the Golden Knights.

The Mountaineers were on full display today after scoring 16 goals against PSU Behrend as nine different Mountaineers scored in this evening's game. Coach Vink and crew shot out of a cannon, tallying 12 goals in the first half to PSU's two. Out of the half the Mount kept control of the game, although being outscored by a goal. The Mountaineers swept the day with this 16-7 win over PSU Behrend.
 
Alexandros Bellesis finished the day with seven goals while Aaron Tarr finished with six.
