EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 16th, 2023) – Women's rugby hosted the Scared Heart Pioneers in their home-opener today at Echo field. The game started with heavy defensive pressure by both sides before the first try was scored in the 12
th minute. The Mountaineers fell to the Pioneers 55-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sacred Heart broke through the try zone first via a full field spread, try scored by Caitlyn Caldon at 12:18, 7-0.
- The Pioneers took control of the of the first half as they commanded the lead 24-0 at halftime.
- Sacred Heart came out of the break with intensity, scoring three tries, 41-0 in the 64th minute.
- Mount St. Mary's showed prowess as the front line connected on pass after pass to score in the 63rd minute. Riley Sibilia assisted Caliann Dietz on the try, 41-5.
