Littlestown, Pa. (April 17, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's women's golf finished day one of the Quail Valley Spring Invitational with a combined score of 308. The team consisting of
Jennifer Sorkin,
Naomi Yacyshen,
Erika Cui, and
Chloe Sipe hold first after day one of the tournament while also setting a new school record for best score in one round.
The team of three freshman and one sophomore beat out the previous record set in 2009 at the NEC Championships by a confident nine strokes. There were six birdies shot on the record-setting team, two each for Yacyshen, Sorkin, and Cui.
Cui is the Mount's top performer after shooting a 76, just four over par today. Freshmen
Jennifer Sorkin and
Chloe Sipe were close behind after finishing tied for second with a final score of 77.
Naomi Yacyshen is currently tied for fourth place with a score of 78 (+6).
Makensy Knaub is tied for 15
th with a score of 86 (+14).
The Mountaineers competed with two teams today.
Allie Sexton is sitting in 19
th with a score of 88 (+16), while
Michaila Cheung is in 20
th with a score of 89 (+17).
Olivia Block is in 21
st after shooting 91 on the day, while
Suzanna Martin is in 24
th after shooting 101.
Taylor Woodward is in 25
th with a score of 105 (+33).
