EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 22, 2023) – The Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse played their final non-conference game for 2023, falling 17-5 to the Virginia Tech Hokies at Waldron Family Stadium.
 
Anna Salerno had a multi-goal effort for the second straight game, building a goal total of seven for the season. 
Lindsey Tolliver also found the back of the net twice. 
Julianna Sanchez supplied the fifth tally. Facing a busy day in the net, 
Madison Bradley recorded 10 saves, picked up five ground balls and caused two turnovers.
 
For the Hokies, leading scorer Olivia Vergano scored a game-high five goals. Claire Schotta, Kayla Frank, and Lauren Render scored multiple times.
 
The first quarter saw Mount's defense got off to a good start, and Salerno's first goal put the Mountaineers up 1-0 at the 11:38 mark. Virginia Tech tied the game on a free position shot three minutes later, and the game remained deadlocked until 1:15 left with a Schotta score to put the visitors up 2-1. The two scores kicked off a 7-0 run, which extended to 11-2 by halftime.
 
Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play begins Saturday (Mar. 25), with the first draw at noon.
